Livia Firth’s Bottletop Bag

Any excuse to put a lovely pic of Colin Firth on the blog, eh?

There’s good reason.

Colin’s super-stylish missus is a fan of a very cool and worthy accessory that I wrote about before Christmas for The Guardian.

In the pic to your left, taken last week, she’s holding one; the classic Luciana gold clutch by Bottletop.

The v cool thing about Bottletop bags is that they are handmade by the Bottletop team in Brazil using recycled ring pulls collected by local communities.

The company has already salvaged over two million ring pulls, modelling them into fashionable accessories – and in doing so, generating employment (and a dollop of good-feeling) in some of the poorest parts of the world.

I have to admit that eco-friendly fashion is a plus for me, rather than a must, but when a bag is this sexy – and comes with such worthwhile credentials – I could well fall for it. (Paris and Peaches dig them too, but don’t let that put you off.)

I’m hoping to interview the so-called ‘Bottletop Boys’ (founders of the project) in the next few weeks for eBay, but in the meantime, find out a bit more about the fabby Bottletop project.
