Spring springs – and a Bonprix competition

Oh, my lubberlies. I don’t care if it’s fahkin’ freezin’ outside. Spring has sprung in my world (look, I’ve got the daffs out and everything).

I can’t wear any more outfits made up of copious layers. I’m sick of my Primark thermal vests (pretty as they may be – no, really). I want light jumper dresses now, with scoop necklines and fine knits. I want nudes and 70s mini dresses with Pocahontas-style boots. (I don’t really know what a Pocahontas-style boot is, because she usually had bare feet, but it sounds good.) I want spring sandals and bandeau jumpsuits!

And talking of jumpsuits, I love the washed-out denim one I’m wearing in the pic above – and it’s a steal. £27.90 from the new spring collection at Bonprix.

Bonprix have got a bunch of cute denim and 70s pieces this season – all dead affordable. They’ve also told me (we’re very close, you know) that this week is their 25th anniversary – happy birthday! – and to celebrate, yesterday they launched an online competition to find ‘the faces of 2011’. I know of at least 100 regular Fashion Detective readers (what do you mean ‘that’s all of us’?) who could easily qualify…

Here’s why you should bother: winners bag themselves a VIP trip to Hamburg (Bonprix’s global headquarters don’tcha know) worth over £2,000, including five nights’ accommodation in the swish Motel One Hamburg Am Michel. While you’re on your excursion, you’ll be professionally styled, star in a photo shoot modelling all the latest spring looks and attend a glam party to celebrate Bonprix’s birthday – touch. Did I mention that you can take a mate? (NB. If you drink too much and embarrass yourself, don’t be telling the nice people at Bonprix that you heard about their competition from me, OK?)

All you need to do to enter is upload a gorgeous image of yourself here before 3:59pm (I love how specific that is – you can so tell it’s a German company) on the 23rd March 2011, along with your name, date of birth, email and postal address. To read the T&Cs just click here.

Good luck everyone – and to wet (whet?) your whistle a bit more, here are more cheeky 70s styles from Bonprix… (I’m quite desperately in need of that there denim dress)
