The crown jewels

I’ve just written about Kate’s dress on eBay and I’m going to look at some of the finer details on Yahoo, so let’s leave the clothes alone here on Fashion Detective and get down with the bling.

Diamond oak leaf and acorn earrings worn by Catherine Middleton

Let’s start with Kate’s earrings – subtle but gorgeous, huh? (Just like her). No surprise that they were a bespoke design, commissioned by her parents as a wedding gift, by my fave jeweller Robinson Pelham. They make some of the bestest cocktail rings in the whole wide world (not that I own any of them – I just like gazing at them online).

Anyhow, the earrings are diamond-set stylised oak leaves with a pear shaped diamond set drop and a pavé set diamond acorn suspended in the centre. The inspiration for the design was the family’s new coat of arms which includes acorns and oak leaves. RP also produced the floral, diamond earrings Pippa Middleton wore to compliment her headpiece. Gorgeous.

If you were lusting after some of the other v fine jewellery sported on the day, you might have got past Fearne Cotton’s polka dots and bad tatts (am deffo never getting one after seeing Fearne look so grubby yesterday on account of her body ‘art’) noticed her bracelet – it was the £995 1980s Chanel Coin Bracelet  from Susan Caplan Vintage Collection at Selfridges – I love the matching necklace, meself.

And if you’re a bit of a Royal nut, maybe you should give Susan Caplan a shout to see if this little treasure is still available – a one-off 1970s ring featuring a faceted sapphire coloured stone with diamante surround – and only £45.
