True blue in Cannes

Everyone (including me, in my other life as a “pro” journalist) has been banging on about all the white clothes at Cannes. This year, the whole event has turned into one big catwalk and with most of the lovely ladies wearing white or nude, you’d be forgiven for thinking that colour pop was just a big, slightly awkward dream.

However, some celeb-type ladies have been busting out the blues. Midnight blue, electric blue, Royal, navy…call it what you will, but I’ve been obsessing over this shade since I blew a month’s beer money on those effin’ beautiful Manolos. I do love the whole white thang, but the blue is that much easier to wear in the real world.

Here’s how they’ve been rocking it in Cannes…

Penelope Cruz: Stunning in Stella McCartney (Francois Durand/Getty Images)

Audrey Dana – good colour, suspect dress design

Model Noemie Lenoir: Nice coral nails (Oliver Borde)

Jodie Foster:  Quid pro quo, yes or no? (Ian Gavan)

If I’ve got you in a blue kinda mood, grab something similarly spectacular immediately, like the Reiss Luz one shoulder maxi dress at ASOS (yum-e-dee-yumma):

Or the slightly more subtle curve front vest dress at Warehouse – very 2011:
