Gold sequin dress. James Bond theme. Lola Jones music band. Mucho drinko.

Worra night it was for the Fashion Detective, down at the Selsdon Park Hotel
A James Bond-themed 40th birthday party (congrats, Jim!) was the perfect occasion for big hair, proper lady make-up and a shiny frock, so I finally wore the gold River Island sequin maxi dress I’ve been banging on about. And as you may spot in the pic above, I was also road testing my very own two finger ring and hand chain (as worn by Caggie Dunlop), with an owl ring by Louche at JOY (one of the eyes has dropped off, but a one-eyed owl has a certain charm don’t you think?)
As well as the fashions there was a happy magician, a late bar, lots of my girls (all looking lush) and live music courtesy of local band The Lola Jones, a “man band” of some repute. I’m something of a fan given that my old man is the lead singer. Check out their newest tune – plus the rest of my pics from a very golden, glitzy and out-and-out boozy occasion…

Here’s that golden dress in full – so much bling-a-ling for £80
Here’s the pic the pro took as we arrived – such an ace idea to have a real photographer in the house
All the girls were going for it – am especially in love with Gill’s vintage yellow embellished dress (another one of her classic eBay finds) with a cute gold clutch and oversized Topshop choker
If you’ve ever doubted that eBay has the goods, surely this dress will change your mind?
Lou’s faux fur stole and heart-shaped brooch added lashings of glam
Birthday boy Jim takes to the floor with his beautiful wife Bex (who is wearing an M&S dress – M&S!!)
Pick a card, any card…
Bond girlies
Even The Lola Jones had been subjected to a bit of styling
Rich takes a break from tinkling the ivories
“Oooooooooooh”
Sixth band member?
Job done – now they can go back to waiting tables (fnar)
A pint of cider and the lead singer: Yes, kids, I’ve been outed as the ultimate groupie
