Cocktails, cakepops and MR PORTER

Last night was a busy one. After pre-event drinks at The Criterion, I headed down to Mark’s Bar at Hix in Soho for the MR PORTER summer essentials launch party – before a swift beverage in The Old Coffee House (where a mouse was merrily running around the bar – no kidding) and a spot of live late night radio at the BBC (complete with a very tarty Martini courtesy of Ben and Tom from dwink.com).

You can read a bit more about the new collection at MR PORTER over at Style Compare, but here’s the story of my night in pictures…

Traditional bar billiards and  lots of funky boys’ clothes were on the table at this event
Low stools at the bar; Mark’s place – complete with “apothecary bar” – has a definite New York vibe
Fancy a fish with your cocktail?
Haddock or Plaice?
The rails (showcasing new collections for SS12 at MR PORTER) didn’t look out of place amongst the leather sofas
Trendy people mingle
Canapes were on the menu
And chocolate orange cocktails went down a treat
Perhaps Mr. Fashion Detective can share my love of blue shoes?
Behold a bit of Burberry Prorsum pant leg
And I thought new shoes on the table created bad luck…
Jil Sander tasselled suede loafers
I really liked the plaid Rag & Bone shirt
…but the Hawaiian print jobby was even better
If any boy-readers are after a cool tee for summer, go Givency
For me, Orlebar Brown stole the show
Just loved the acid colours and matching swim shorts and reversible jackets
If you’re a man who moans about “boring” menswear, get some geometric print in your wardrobe
I catch up on some MR PORTER news…
Before heading off to the studio, where cocktails were being lovingly prepared (on air) by Ben and Tom of dwink.com
Back home – and time to raid the goodie bag
All the bloggers at the event were most capivated by the MR PORTER “cakepop”
It felt kinda gruesome to bite into him…
…but somehow, we managed. Mmmmm.
