Elvis lives…

I really must update my taste in music.

If it’s not The Beatles, it’s Elvis Presley in concert (no, really)…

Yup, it’s The King (“live” at the 02 on March 16th 2012)
I first saw this “spectacle” circa 2000: Members of Elvis’ latter day backing band, including TCB, The Imperials and The Sweet Inspirations, perform live with Elvis on a big screen
No one wore a jumpsuit quite like this man
Lots of iconic imagery gets the crowd going
There’s a fair bit of pelvis grinding in the footage used
But it’s the moments when Elvis cracks up or forgets the words that are the bestest
Big Elvis, and little Elvis
There’s lots of emotion (not least when he sings Bridge Over Troubled Water)
Watching over The Imperials (in a very natty blue jumpsuit)
If you ever go to see this – and not to be mean, but I wouldn’t waste any time given the age of the band – the hits include Suspicious Minds, Love Me Tender, See See Rider, Burning Love, All Shook Up, In The Ghetto, That’s All Right, Don’t Be Cruel, The Wonder of You and An American Trilogy
Elvis in his prime – this show certainly reminded me how flippin’ hot he was
