Renegade Marmalade and Manchester Fashion Week

Mad for it: One Teaspoon @ Renegade Marmalade, a prime example of Manchester’s mega fashion scene

Earlier this week I received the exciting news that Manchester is having its very own Fashion Week for the first time in April. Being a Northern lass, I’m already flying the flag for Liverpool Fashion Week, and Manchester’s maiden version sounds just as exciting; forget the array of fashion talent that hails from the North West at your peril (Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and Henry Holland to name but three).

Fingers crossed I’ll make it up there for at least a day or two of the fashionable festivities, but to get a flavour of the best the city has to offer, I’ve been heavily browsing a very cool online boutique born in Manchester – Renegade Marmalade

Renegade Marmalade was founded by former model scout and booker, Victoria Jackson, who wanted to do something about the dominance of high street stores in Manchester. The independently-driven fruits of her labour include international labels Hudson Jeans, Jovonna, and House of the Gods, alongside selected local labels including Renegade Marmalade’s own brand. Every item stocked is hand-picked by Victoria to reflect Renegade Marmalade’s ethos – strong ‘n’ sweet, bold but feminine.

You’ll find the offline Renegade Marmalade boutique in Manchester’s St. James Square, but if you’re not close enough to pop in, check out the website. Australian brand One Teaspoon and the edgy accessories brand Uno de 50 have just joined the ranks, so it’s sure worth checking out what the site has to offer…

This could be a very canny early festival buy (V dress, £40, by Savage Culture @ Renegade Marmalade)
Animal print rules up North (Bengal pleat skirt, £110, One Teaspoon @ Renegade Marmalade)
Jacket? Dress? Smart either way (jacket dress, £60, Fairground @ Renegade Marmalade)
I love my jewellery with a bit of edge (silver plated zipper ring, £45, Uno de 50 @ Renegade Marmalade)
This takes me back to my grunge/goth days in the North – happy memories! (Easy Rider bracelet, £80, Uno de 50 @ Renegade Marmalade)
You know how I love a bargain, so let me leave you with one – this chunky statement necklace is just £50 on sale, reduced from £180 (large gem necklace, £50, Uno de 50 @ Renegade Marmalade)
