Maybe it's to do with my age (and I mean that in the best possible way), but no holiday feels complete without a serious pampering sesh.
Yesterday, the girls hit the resident Spa and Wellness Center for our first ever Turkish Bath experience...
The spa and wellness center at Ersan resort
I can tell you now, a Turkish bath is an experience you must have.
Here at Ersan, after a five minute warm-up in the sauna, you are taken to a steamy, fragrant and beautifully-lit wet-room (hamam) where you lie together on a huge, heated marble slab and have warm water poured onto your bikini-clad body. Then your therapist scrubs you gently from head to toe with an exfoliating cloth before you are doused in cleansing foam and soaped to within an inch of your life. Your hair is washed, you're doused again with the lovely hot water poured from wooden bowls and you've never felt cleaner.
Post-bath, we were wrapped in warm towels, given cucumber infused water and then treated to a 25 minute massage courtesy of the Balinese ladies who work in the spa here. Even the herbal tea and biscuit when we were all finished was delish. Total. Bliss.
And it isn't just the grown ups being pampered here at Ersan; Lily (12) came with us for the entire spa experience and was treated like a princess - and even El (7) has had his own little pamper session, courtesy of the on-site barber.
Short back and sides, sir? El saw a pic in the window of the hairdresser's salon that "looked like a Beyblade" character, and that's what he wanted
Meanwhile, Lily has a pedicure - we now have matching floral nail art on our big toes (the Balinese ladies in the spa were mad for them)
El (wearing a shark print top I *love* from GAP Kids) shows off the cut on the mini golf course
Post-spa, I could have joined an aqua class in the main pool...
But this is me we're talking about - I slunk off for some more "me time" under clear blue skies at the very idyllic infinity pool
And to finish a perfect day of pampering? An "unspecified" cocktail in the D.I.S.C.O.
