A cheesy night at the Mayflower, Rotherhithe

It was a cheese-laden evening we had in The Mayflower pub, Rotherhithe – and I mean that literally. As “revealed” I was done-up to blind in my ASOS shirt dress, and Monsieur Fasion Detective was providing the entertainment with a reduced fat version of his band…

The Mayflower is the oldest pub on the Thames and it is right on the river (and when I say that I mean it – sit out on the decking and you might get splashed from below). As we arrived at dusk – and because I was blatantly gossiping with my lovely friend Sarah all night, who was wearing the most outstanding rose print Topshop trousers – I didn’t take too may pics, but as this is a “Pirate Pub” of epic proportions, welcoming “well-behaved” children, I’m going back soon with the young matey onboard to give you a proper glimpse of what it’s like.

Sarah’s pants – cor!

In the meantime, let me tell you that in addition to the music policy (Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc) this pub does a mean artisan cheese board; you get to pick how many cheeses you get on there and can either select your own assortment or have a pick & mix courtesy of the bar man (who looks ridiculously like Made in Chelsea’s Frederik Ferrier).

Seven cheeses, a pint of Aspall cider and live music courtesy of the old man. I couldn’t have been any happier if I’d tried.

Ready to rock on the River Thames
3/5 of a man band
Those delicious cheeses again (wish I’d taken my big, fat camera along to capture the cheesy goodness – next time)
