Spring is suddenly sweltering (hey, I'm not complaining), and just off a plane from New York City, designer
Danilo Gabrielli launched his AW12 collection in a sun-bathed London last night. Simple things persuade me to go to fashion shows on melt-your-make-up steamy nights (honestly, not moaning); white wine spritzers, gorgeous venues and sizzling fashion...
Lounging in the opulent surrounds of
boutique hotel, restaurant & nightclub, No5 Cavendish Square, we were treated to a collection of wild fabrics, metallic statements, cool-as-a-cucumber jackets and idyllic 1940s-inspired glamour (Mad Men look out, there's a new era in town).
In spite of the heat (no, really) I was already in a fall mood after swooning over the Reiss AW12 collection (more of that soon - you'll love it), and as cheerful Tuscan-born designer Danilo personally welcomed us to his exclusive preview, the sun streaming through the open windows made his beautiful collection sparkle all the more.

| How about this for the hottest seat in London? |
| I was at the event with Steph, my colleague at Style Compare and blogger at fashionasylum.co.uk - she'd just treated herself to that lush, pleated wrap from H&M |
| It's testament to a determination to show you my sky blue kimono jacket and coral dress that I am willing to publish an eyes tight shut photo - also, my fringe is bedraggled due to the heat (must try harder) |
| The opulent drawing room (and a DJ) get ready for the onslaught of models and winter fashion |
| No5 Cavendish Square is a very grand venue... |
| ...and we managed to lower the tone with white wine spritzers - well it was boiling hot |
| Out on the roof terrace, we spotted some seriously gorgeous neon shoes (and don't they look groovy next to Steph's Mulberry Daria Hobo bag?) I was ready to return my brighter-than-the-sun orange (not pink, as promised) lace skirt to ASOS, but after seeing these shoes and a bright neon dress at the event, I'm having second thoughts |
| The guests take their seats for Danilo's show |
| Essentially, this collection is all about contrast - love the elegant check suit... |
| ...and the blinging shirt underneath is stunning |
| The 1940s influence is felt throughout this collection |
| Luxurious jackets are big with Danilo - you can see the Italian-New-York fusion with a 40s finish |
| A very simple, elegant 40s-inspired look |
| Good to see the return of pussybow blouses for the autumn |
| After the show this model was wearing the fabulous neon dress - blame her if you see me chipping around Tooting in a blinding skirt this arvo |
| On to my highlights; as the sun blazed in, this cool 90s-meets-40s suit shone |
| Under the suit, a stunning yellow silk blouse |
| Fabulous colour and a pussybow - what more could a girl want? |
| Oh, she could want this awesome metallic silver jacket - yes, yes please! |
| And when the bling jacket came off we were gangsta trippin' |
| Danilo saved the most breathtaking 'til last |
| You know a dress is dream-worthy when the model is having this much fun walking it |
| The audience adored the out-of-this-world contrast dress |
| Would I wear it? Hell yeah |
| Danilo takes to the catwalk to enjoy the applause |
| And gives his models the kudos they deserve after a spectacular show - thanks, D! |
