Jubilee fashion forecast is red, white and blue

Ahhh, Geri. Remember when the spicy Ginger-Ninja rocked the country back in ’97 with her iconic Union Jack dress? Didn’t it make everyone want to slip into something similar? Or was that just me?

Thanks to the Diamond Jubilee, we’ve finally got the excuse we need. Geri didn’t hesitate; see the pic above for her 2012 remix of the classic Union Jack look (Next, £199) which is slightly less revealing than the one she fashioned out of a tea towel, back in the day, but packs a punch all the same. Even if you don’t want to “do a Geri”, there are loads of ways to work it, from the subtle to the sensational, so why not just go with it?

Union Jack fever is alive and well out on the streets today; the bunting is out, kids are carrying flags to school and fold away tables are propped up, poised for action, in every other garden. Yes, the rain clouds are gathering, but the fashion forecast is red, white and blue.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been making a list of my fave Jubilee bits and bobs to share, so we can kick off the Jubilee celebrations, Fashion Detective stylee, in earnest. And there is still time to buy, so whaddya waiting for…
