A wedding, a new dress and a “Rodka”

I ain’t looking that glamorous today, chaps. But last night, at the wedding reception responsible for my massive hangover, I got to show off the Brigitte dress by Pearl London that I bought a couple of weeks back.

The happy couple celebrated their nuptials at Wokefield Park near Reading. It was a classic wedding by our standards (music from The Lola Jones, surprise guest appearance from footie legend David James, who shared some of his deepest darkest comic book secrets with me, and a fire alarm going off in the midst of the encore), and although I bought the Brigitte frock to wear at tomorrow’s Diamond Jubilee Festival, one glance at the weather forecast and I shifted my sartorial plans around somewhat.

Luckily, rain did not stop play yesterday and here’s a closer look at a very fashionable evening…

El arrives at the bash looking resplendent in his Superman tee and checked shirt (which started a very cool little superhero convo with yer man David James later in the evening)
Outside the grand entrance to the mansion; I accessorised the Brigitte dress with my Topshop kimono jacket and Kurt Geiger heels
A posh backdrop will always make me smile – can you believe I danced in those heels all night and not one blister?
The envelope clutch is from Monsoon and the Brigitte dress from Pearl London (£50) comes in various colours if you fancy one for yourself
As always, my friend Gill looks fabulously unique in vintage (I sooooo want to borrow the yellow scalloped jacket)

I couldn’t resist getting a pic on the red carpet
Inside, The Lola Jones (and special guest Nadine) limber up
But El decided he’d rather give his new Spongebob headphones a trial run
The tables looked beautiful
Each table name was a destination the couple had visited
And didn’t the colour scheme work beautifully with the new (emergency, bought in Paddington Station) bag? (£45, Monsoon)
Another occasion, another drink is invented; last night we got acquainted with the “Rodka” (vodka, raspberry voka and WKD – class)
El shows us where his second hog roast sandwich is going
