Why we’re dancing on Tooting Common

It’s no secret that El and I love showing off, and tomorrow we’ll be showing off in tandem, thanks to Another Dance Company

Taking a quick break from the dance routine we’ve been practicing together

We were lucky enough to be invited to join in a project called Big & Small at El’s school, which involved five free dance classes for kids and parents to take part in together. The project, run by the fabulous Laura Aldridge, culminates in a big dance event on Tooting Common tomorrow afternoon (6th July 2012) when we’ll be sharing what we’ve learnt with the wider community (what to wear??)

As you can see from the photos (taken by the very talented dance and portrait photographer, Alicia Clarke) we’ve been having a ball, dancing to Latino with silk scarves, pulling robotic moves with elastic and learning a very cute routine together to impress our audience.

The event, C’mon and Dance, is part of the Big Dance 2012 project and it takes place from 1:30pm to 5pm on Tooting Common tomorrow. As well as watching me prance around like a nutcase, there will be performances from kids and schools across the area. Better start limbering up…
