Key trends: New York Fashion Week SS13

London Fashion Week kicks off for me this eve with a hot ticket to a special high street show at Claridges (posh!). And in honour of Fashion Week season, I thought you might like a peek at some of the coolest styles and pics from the New York version.

Sadly, I wasn’t there (an old friend of mine was, and she wrote this excellent report on Katie Holmes’ “quiet” debut at NYFW) but I’ve got my paws on some stunning images – including Vera Wang’s show-stopping midi dress above – to whet your fashion whistle. Seriously, get ready to drooool…

Nicole Miller sent this beautiful jumbled print dress down the runway: The cut is girly and floaty, but the clashing prints have a whiff of Mary Katrantzou about them, don’t you think? (Photo by Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)
We talked all things Barbie yesterday and I think SS13 is going to see a pink explosion: This CZAR By Cesar Galindo creation makes me feel justified in wearing my ridiculously girly vintage pink sparkler this evening (Photo by Mike Coppola/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)

I love how wearable this look is – and the pastel shades (see – more pink) rock with white and grey accents (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)
Neon/rave gathered pace towards the end of this season – good to see it’s back for SS13 in the W118 By Walter Baker collection (Photo by Mike Coppola/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)

This blue Tadashi Shoji midi dress is heavenly – love the length, the China print and the ethnic slant (Photo by Mike Coppola/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)
Yes please: Monika Chiang nails it. (Photo by Cindy Ord/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)
The NYFW catwalks were awash with bright colours, pinks and feminine shapes, but Tommy Hilfiger messes things around a bit with oversize striped suits (Photo by Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)
Fierce doesn’t even come close: This dress stunned at the David Tlale Sun SS13 presentation (Photo by Craig Barritt/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)

Simple. Stunning. Carolina Herrera captures SS13 elegance beautifully (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week)
You know I’m a sucker for green and this Mathieu Mirano gown is the perfect spring shade – there’s also a touch of sports luxue about the shape (Photo by Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)
At first glance, this Tory Burch SS13 maxi dress is straightforward – but look closer for all kinds of influences (Native American, peasant chic, vintage 70s, tribal…) (Photo by Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images for Mercedes Benz)
I love J Crew – and this outfit (the shoes! the shoes!) is MUST HAVE: Such a beautiful, street-style-ready contrast (Photo by Mike Coppola/Getty Images for Mercedes Benz)
The boys haven’t escaped the pink explosion (!): Love John Bartlett’s candy floss suit (Photo by Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images for Mercedes Benz)
Florals are a must in any SS collection and this maxi length tiered look by Candela would work for me anyday (Photo by Amy Sussman/Getty Images for Mercedes Benz)

I usually really like Rachel “stylist-turned-designer” Zoe’s style, but this is a big, fat fail for me at a SS show – the boots are hideous (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for Mercedes-Benz)

Every Fashion Week needs some madness, right? Do the neon spacegirl with Falguni & Shane Peacock (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for Mercedes Benz)
