The 3 Monkeys bar Balham

Yet again, I’m nursing a cocktail-flavour Sunday hangover – delicious and delightful (with some delovely on the side). Worth it though: we went to a great party and had chance to explore a new bar that has opened in Balham called The 3 Monkeys

The big excitement for South Londoners is not only that they mix a mean cocktail, have a decent happy hour and serve food from a small sample menu provided by Tagine North African restaurant next door, but there is also a Lucky Voice karaoke booth downstairs. Singing/shouting your head off powered by Japanese Firefly cocktails? Yes please.

Girls, I can feel a very special – and local – night out coming on, can’t you?

Cocktails are two for one during happy hour (dangerous)

This, my dears, is a “Chocolate Chimp” from the 3 Monkeys’ signature cocktail menu: Zubrowka Vodka and Remy Martin VSOP with cream, milk, chocolate liqueur and cocoa bitters – served short with a cookie

This one’s The Monkey’s Nuts: Monkey Shoulder whiskey with Frangelico, lemon juice, sugar syrup – and a monkey nut
This one is spicy and lethal: a Japanese-inspired Firefly with Absolut peppar, sake, lychee, fresh chillies, ginger beer and a Goldschlager float
I was all dolled up in an embellished gold 1960s shift dress from Peekaboo Vintage
