TWO days left to vote…mums get colourful

Only two days left to vote in the MAD Blod awards – only two more days of me appealing for your support in this matter (phew!)

One reason you might fancy voting for me is that I am a devotee to colour: just because you’re over 30, just because you’re a parent, doesn’t mean sludge brown and boring beige are suddenly the only option available to you.

Pinks, purples and palm trees: I got colourful in Tenerife to show off some spring 2013 fashion

Bold, bright, beautiful colour can work at any age, whatever your “roles” in life, and although I take it to extremes, with my bright copper-top and clashing prints and shades, I hope that in some way I inspire other women readers to be a bit braver and express themselves using eye-popping colours and patterns.

Winter will not stop me popping out the brights – as I proved in Liverpool last month

And I’m sure as heck bringing El up to believe that just because he’s a boy, doesn’t mean he has to dress in neutral tones – no effin’ way.

A chip off the old block – with a bit of Superman thrown in

And so to encourage you to vote for me in the Best MAD Fashion & Beauty category before it’s too late (and if you’ve already done the deed – thanks a billion!) here are a few more of my colourful fashion high points….

How’s this for a bold aqua frock? (Sadly, I didn’t read the instructions before I applied Sally Hansen’s spray on tights and ended up truly Tango-ed in the leg area.)

This awesome purple and pink paisley print adorns one of my fave vintage dresses (from Peekaboo Vintage)

I fell in love with this tapestry trophy jacket at boohoo.com’s “Boutique” launch – can’t wear it again this spring (if it ever stops snowing)

I found these awesome colour pop watches in Mad Elizabeth’s funky vintage boutique in Leeds

I was even willing to “do” yellow in the name of SS13 fashion

Green’s probably my fave colour ever and I tried to put the funky firmly into Boden for this colourful shoot

I put this blazingly bright look together for a pre-Christmas Party Dress Test

I wore this Richard Nicoll dress for my most recent Fashion Detective shoot in March 2013 – and it might just be the brightest frock I’ve ever donned

I love prints as much as I love colours: I’ll leave you with a pic from my fave ever shoot (with my boys directing the action behind the camera as usual) wearing Kelly Love SS13 at the foot of Mount Teide in Tenerife – freezing but having loads of colour-tastic fun!
