Vintage style jersey tops for summer
If you’re a vintage addict, like me, summer can be slightly tricksy. I love a polyester shirt dress as much as the next fancy dresser, but on a hot day (we will get more of them this summer, I promise) they’re not so practical #sweatpatches
So here’s a clever idea from 20th Century Foxy (the brand doing a superb line in vintage-inspired styles from the 30s, 40s and 50s).
These striped jersey tops are perfectly retro, but the cool jersey fabric is brill for baking-hot days. Wear them with white, three quarter length capri pants (or pedal pushers, as we like to call them up North) and simple white pumps, for a late 50s look, or go glam by adding a pencil skirt and heels for a 40s effect.
I’d be plumping for straight leg jeans, huge sunnies and simple sandals for an early-60s vibe (what a surprise!) – dedicated 60s vintageistas could add a headscarf for that beautifully OTT finishing touch.
The sweetheart top is available in red or blue and is an affordable £39.
