Topshop does the 60s

Not all my 60s outfits are compiled by raiding eBay: I’m just as fond of a high street purchase that is inspired by the era.

I was in Topshop last week, rummaging through the sale rails for jacquard trousers to wear on New Year’s Eve (practical and stylish, don’t you know) and I was impressed by the number of 60s-esque pieces in the latest collections.

Number one fave is the daisy print shirt dress (above, £55), brand new and sooooo beautiful. I’d be wearing it with mink knit tights and my over-the-knee flat boots from H&M.

As it’s not the only slice of late-60s/early-70s inspired loveliness at Toppers right now, here’s my edit of the best of the rest…

This paisley print presents an easy way to get from winter to spring (Paisley print tunic, £26)

A great dress to pop on over a print roll neck – try Uniqlo (60s boucle shift dress, £65)

Clarks do a great pair of 60s fashion-friendly patent navy brogues you could rock with this number (Lace collar velvet shift dress, £125)

Pop a pussy bow blouse under this dress and…wow! (Brocade paisley shift dress, £30 (sale price))

Wear with a black polo neck, opaque tights and knee-length boots for instant sixties chic (striped button wrap skirt, £35)
