Sixties Sunday: Uniqlo striped mod dress

Johanna Payton 60s stripe dress Uniqlo - april 2015

I love this dress. Comfy, stripy, modette-y.

I bought it from Uniqlo with exciting intentions: given that it has a nautique feel, I wore it last weekend when I went on a mini cruise to review a brand new ship called Anthem of the Seas. I had planned to shoot it on deck but due to a camera malfunction (read: I forgot to put the battery back in after charging it up) we had to abandon that idea.

Instead, I popped it on this morning and got onboard a very different mode of transport for the photos – our lovely white Vespa.

Wearing red, white and blue and riding a scooter felt very apt anyway, as I spent last night dressed as Geri Halliwell (circa 1997) at a 90s party. Don’t worry. I was with Scary, Sporty and Posh – and we brought along a plastic baby. It’s not often I dip into other decades, but a blast from a different past made a nice change. Sadly, the Union Jack mini dress won’t get much wear…

Back to the 60s – and the 2015 high street – this most mod of scooter dresses will get plenty of wear and it’s in Uniqlo stores now at £14.90.
