Fred Perry trainers sixties style
I was chatting to one of the guys from the Scorpion Shoes team last week, and it struck me that I’ve never styled trainers on the blog.
Now, you might not think trainers are a natural fit with 60s styling, but I’ve been craving white pumps for the summer…and what better heritage brand for a vintage-loving woman than Fred Perry?
These simply awesome flatform Phoenix trainers in white are sooooooo easy to add to 60s inspired outfits. Just £50, they will see you through the whole summer, working with absolutely everything from mini dresses to casual Capri trousers.
To illustrate, I’ve styled them three ways.
The first look is pure 60s: paisley polyester top (eBay), white and gold vintage shift dress and white tights. A daytime classic for groovy girls: comfy, feminine, absolutely retro and the Fred Perry trainers add a sporty touch.
Next up, Capri trousers – a 60s staple.
Capris are an easy win with pumps – and the flatform style gives you a wee bit of height, making cropped trousers easier to wear if you’re vertically challenged.
I’m wearing Topshop trousers with a 60s vintage top: love this as an everyday outfit.
And last, but definitely not least, something a little way out there.
Pumps and maxi dresses are another perfect combo.
I’ve gone all-out with a vintage dress I absolutely love (I wore it to see the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park, so it’s steeped in special memories) worn over a Topshop dotty blouse.
This is a great festival look (add a floppy hat for an even more intense psychedelic spin).
Don’t hesitate vintage lovers – get yourself a pair of Perrys and you’ll be happy all summer!
