Etam is back – and a copycat dress

Absolutely loving the spring florals on parade at the Etam Spring show in Paris this week.

(Kate Moss was in the audience. I wasn’t. My invite must have got lost in the post.)

Do you remember Etam? It was one of my fave shops as a wee lass. Whenever my mum and I ventured to Huddersfield on a fashion adventure (that’s how we rolled in the 80s), Etam was always one of our bestest haunts. I lived for Tammy Girl…they did the hottest checked shirts with skinny ties on elastic…

By 2005, Etam had disappeared from the UK high street (although it continued going strong en France), but now it’s back in Britain with a focus on lingerie. Huzzah!

Re: the fancy Paris catwalk show, I was particularly enlivened by the dramatic look in the pic above – although the show was ostensibly about undies, these cover-ups have everything you’ll be seeing on the high street over the next few months; midi length, clashing prints, bold flowers, 70s flow…perfect for that halcyon March to May period.

Once I’ve seen something so inspirational, I can’t get it out of my bonce – so I was delighted to spy this lovely little dress in Miss Selfridge this morning, which will do the trick until I can get my hands on the Etam business.
