Get it or regret it: Peekaboo vintage pink midi dress

Did I really look like seafood? I think about this dress more often than a sane person probably should.

Many moons ago, I went shopping for a prom dress (it was my birthday, what else was there to do but hit an 80s night?) and I tried on the bright pink vintage frock (above) at Peekaboo Vintage. It was February, so I was road-testing with black tights and biker boots, but even so, when I put that dress on I proper fell in love with it.

But I didn’t buy it. I don’t even remember what stopped me (Mr. FD didn’t make his classic “you look like a human prawn” comment until I showed him the photo back at home). I do know that I ended up doing a mad dash to Warehouse (newsflash: big summer sale starts in-store and at today) the day after to buy a really cute, white strapless dress that looked great on the night, but I’ve never worn it since. It now sits gathering dust in the attic (don’t worry, it has lots of fellow cast-aways to play with in there).

Why am I writing this post? Well, one reason is that while you’re reading this, I’ll be saying a final goodbye to my gorgeous, glamorous grandmother who passed away last week. A death in the family makes you think about regrets, even little ones, from years ago. And whichever way you look at it, the less regrets you have in your life the blimmin’ better.

Another reason is this – just in at Peekaboo Vintage. Readers, I won’t make the same mistake twice, if I can help it. No regrets.
