Teddy’s Tea Time at the Montcalm Hotel

One of the (many) things I love about kids is that when there is a bit of strife in your life you can throw yourself into activities with them and everything seems right with the world again, even if just for a couple of hours.

This afternoon, I had a beautiful, fun time with my boy, El, and his best mates, Lily (12) and Sonny (6). We all love doing fashionable things and this was perfect; we headed down to the 5 star Montcalm Hotel in Mayfair / Marble Arch to try out the Teddy’s Tea Time, an afternoon tea for children with more cakes than you’ve ever seen, refreshments aplenty and a glass of fizz for me…

Arriving at plush London hotel The Montcalm – five minutes walk from Marble Arch tube
We took afternoon tea (get us!) in The Crescent Restaurant
Loved the centrepiece
And we were entertained by a lovely harpist
He invited the boys to have a strum
While the kids waited for their Teddy Tea, I could not say no to a glass of fizz
Every Sunday afternoon should include a chilled Prosecco
Saying cheers with Lily
Lils checks out the menu; regular readers know that Lily has Type 1 diabetes, but thanks to her funky (pink!) insulin pump and her essential book of carbs, we worked out the cake-fest ahead of us pretty easily
The cakes arrive! Each child received one of these indulgent platters of sweet stuff along with a fruit smoothie
What a selection
After a very Royal, and British, half term, this was the perfect way to end the week
One bite is never enough….
Alongside the cakes, they each got a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries – they went down best of all
Great and British
The fruit smoothies count as one of their five a day, right?
They got a hot chocolate each too
And don’t worry about me – I was on the crumpets
At the Montcalm, crumpets are served with fruit butter and honeycomb
And to wash down my crumpets? A pot of Earl Grey
What a fabulous English tradition this is
El (wearing his latest Spider-Man tee) gets to work on a choc-strawb
And Sonny gets stuck into a mini berry muffin
Of course I had to try some of the kids’ cakes…
…purely for research purposes, you understand
Cheers to the Montcalm for a fantastic afternoon treat…
…that left someone with a rather chocolaty face; “Teddy’s Tea Time” at The Montcalm is £12.50 per child and is offered with a complimentary Montcalm teddy to take home – awwwww

With thanks to The Montcalm Hotel
