JDRF charity walk – post no1

Here we go! As promised, I’m live blogging our charity walk for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

We set off at 11am this morning from The Rake in Borough Market, home of our very own Rabid Barfly. In spite of the early hour, a few real ales were quaffed (the experienced drinkers are tipping the Endless Summer) and then we set off down the Thames path, fought our way through the tourists at the Thames Festival and just landed at the gorgeous Mayflower in Rotherhithe.

We’ll report back when we hit The Narrow (and if you want to sponsor us visit http://www.justgiving.com/teamLils2012), but for now here are our highlights so far…

Blue is the colour today, in honour of JDRF
The kids catch up in The Rake’s garden before the walk
We bundled our way through the Thames River festival – and managed to resist the lure of this (super-funky) hotdog stand
I love the sights (and smells) along the South Bank
Nope – it’s never going to move
Arriving at The Mayflower with the sun shining brightly
Waiting for their veggie curry – fuel for the next leg
