Blackpool in pictures

After regular visits to Blackpool as a kid, I moved to London and started frequenting Brighton for my seaside kicks – it’s the southern way.
11 years ago, I came back here after a trip to Liverpool. This was pre-Capital of Culture and if Liverpool was a bit drab and unloved, Blackpool was taking “faded seaside” town to all new levels.
So I didn’t really big up this trip in case it was a disappointment.
From the moment we arrived and took a taxi from the station to the Big Blue Hotel, right down the promenade, El has been beside himself with glee. A kid living the kind of rock & roll lifestyle he does takes some impressing, but his eyes have been out on stalks here.
From the fabulous four star hotel – with views straight across the Pleasure Beach – to the awesome old school coasters and all-new rides, plus a Sky Walk up the Tower, day 1 has been a complete hit. And the sun put his bloody hat on!
Here’s a flavour…more to come after we’ve done day 2.
